Canberra Hospital Culture and Heritage Collection
Collection:
- Nursing memorabilia including badges, uniforms and commonly used textbooks. A small selection of training films for student nurses and medical professionals.
- The Sylvia Curley House foundation stone and handbook for residential staff.
- Nursing registers containing lists of nursing trainees and their service records. The registers cover intakes of nursing trainees at Canberra Government Hospital, Canberra Community Hospital, Royal Canberra Hospital and Woden Valley Hospital.
- The original certificates recognising the Canberra Hospital as a training school for General Nurses in 1928 and Assistants in Nursing, 1958.
- Hospital Board Minutes that run from 1935-1975
- Royal Canberra Hospital Auxiliary Minutes and memorabilia
- Newsletters, handbooks and reports that relate to the hospitals, hospital community, nursing practice and healthcare.
- A collection of instruments and equipment from the hospitals and the local medical community. Medical equipment and instrument catalogues.
- Photographs of staff and the hospitals. The percentage with necessary details for use is small.
