- He was the son of John and Phoebe Blundell of Tumut. Howard Blundell died in Tumut in 1920 as a result of exposure to mustard gas during World War I. The photograph is dedicated to his sister, Naomi Edith Sylvia Blundell. On the back is written: "To Sylvia & Jack from Howard with kindest regards 23/7/1916". He embarked for overseas in September 1916.
