- William Byrne Freebody was born in 1881 at Woolway near Cooma, the son of William Gabriel Freebody and Eva McEvoy. He married Ena Hawes in Queanbeyan in 1913. She was the daughter of Charles Hawes. Freebody ran a bicycle shop in Queanbeyan in the early 1900s. He died on 9 May 1962 in Sydney.
