- Two copies. Lachlan Maxwell was born in 1918 and was the son of John (Jack) Henry and Ivy (nee Franklin) Maxwell. His father managed Brindabella until about 1925 when the family moved to Queanbeyan. After leaving school Maxwell worked as a stockman on 'Booroomba' and 'Tidbinbilla' stations and by the late 1930s he was a forestry ranger, working at arboreta such as Bendora and Stockyard Creek. He served in World War 2 with the 2/6 Field Regiment (part of the 7th Division) in the Middle East in Syria and Lebanon and then in Papua. He married Audrey Cochran in 1947 and became a farmer in the Yaouk district just south of the ACT border. He died on 1 April 2001.
