- Nan Phillips served (at various times) as the CDHS's Treasurer, Secretary (for 12 years), Newsletter editor and established the Society's Journal. She was also the library and resource officer for several years. She died in 1984 while at work in the Society's office. The biennial Nan Phillips Memorial Lectures were created by the Society in her memory.
She received the Honorary Master of Arts degree from the ANU for outstanding service to scholarship.
