Summary
Equestrian training at Duntroon. The photo shows 8 mounted cadets and the Riding Instructor (H. Shappere) with senior staff observing from a viewing platform. The last RMC Gymkhana was held in August 1940. Cavalry training was eliminated from the RMC curriculum in 1941 due to the developments in mechanised warfare.

Notes
Annotated on rear "Shapiri [sic] Riding Master. Married a Mayo girl." Major H. Shappere was the Riding Instructor at RMC from 1912 to 1923, which helps to date this photo. It was H. Chumleigh who married Alice Mayo. Mount Pleasant and houses are in the background.
