- A cheque for 20 million pounds paid to His Majesty's Treasury signed by John Beasley, Australia's High Commissioner in London, and Mr S. Macfarlane, Secretary of the Commonwealth Treasury. It was Australia's contribution to Britain for its war effort in the Pacific. In 2013 terms this is about $2bn.
