Keeping our stories alive against the odds

11 February 2025

Keeping our stories alive against the odds.

In February 2023 when a small local historical society was summarily evicted from premises that it had occupied for forty years, the prospect of finding suitable housing for a large and important archival collection became a matter of extreme urgency.

Lack of suitable and available premises, a cash strapped organisation and an unenviable time frame set the scene for what could have been a disastrous outcome.

Yass & District Historical Society Vice President Cheryl Mongan will tell how this difficult situation was resolved to achieve a positive outcome for the society.

Vercoe Room, Wesley Centre, Forrest. 5pm for 5.30pm start
